THINK
METAL IS METAL?

THINK AGAIN.

With so many metal roofing options, it’s easy to assume it’s all the same. Unfortunately, different options do mean different performance ratings. And as excepted, the cheapest solutions happen to also be the riskiest – costing you more in the long-run.

You work hard to maintain your reputation. Don’t let non-compliant roofing materials chip away at
your business.

To protect yourself and your clients, choose metal roofing panels with an anti-corrosion substrate of Galvalume® AZ50 or higher. Anything less – like AZ35 – doesn’t meet building codes, and isn’t covered by warranty. More than that, it exposes you to the risk of performance failures and lawsuits.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

AZ35

  • 1.12 mil coating
  • No protection from corrosion
  • No substrate warranty available
  • Non-compliant
  • Risk of reputation exposure

Galvalume® AZ50

  • 1.60 mil coating
  • Full protection from corrosion
  • 25-year substrate warranty
  • Meets IBC and IRC standards
  • Protects roofer reputation

To protect metal roofs against corrosion, panels need to be coated with aluminum-zinc alloy. You know this. What you might not know is the thickness of that coating really matters. In fact, it matters more than some roofing manufacturers let on.

Warranties

Panels with Galvalume® AZ50 and higher offer a 25-year substrate warranty, on top of the extra protection of a 45-year paint warranty.

There are no warranties to cover AZ35 coatings. Although many well-known brands sell “40-year roofing panels,” it’s only a paint warranty. And paint is not enough to protect metal from rusting.

Building Codes

Today’s metal roofing must have a minimum AZ50 anti-corrosion coating to meet IBC and IRC standards, which most states and local authorities follow.

AZ35 coatings do not meet code requirements. Installing non-compliant products exposes businesses to the risk of potential litigation from homeowners, licensing boards and insurance companies.

Good Business

AZ50 substrates do right by homeowners. Houses are a huge investment and they deserve to be protected with a quality product – even if it costs an extra $300 per roof.

Panels with AZ35 substrates are cheaper for a reason; they’re inferior products. That cost difference isn’t worth your reputation.

Galvalume® AZ50 is a thicker coating than an AZ35 substrate.
